ABSTRACT

Objective:To study the clinicopathological features, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of patients with solid pseudopapillary neoplasm of the pancreas (SPN).Methods:From Jan 2008 to Dec 2017, 112 pathology confirmed SPN patients who underwent surgical treatment at the Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University were followed up. The clinicopathological characteristics and diagnosis were analyzed. Results:Most SPN patients were young women, the ratio of male to female is 1∶7. SPN patients have no typical clinical symptoms. The preoperative diagnostic accuracy of SPN was 57.14% with imaging examination. Pathological diagnosis depends mainly on immunohistochemical staining. All patients underwent surgical resection. Follow-up ranged from 4 to 123 months. The mean follow-up time was 49 months. All patients were doing well and no recurrence or metastasis was found. Conclusions:SPN is a rare tumor with low malignant potential. Surgical resection is effective.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the inhibitory effect of heparanase antisense oligodeoxynucleotide (AS-ODN) on the invasiveness of human liver cancer cell lines SMMC-7721,BEL-7402 in vitro. Methods We designed and synthesized AS-ODN that was complementary to the start codon region of heparanase mRNA,and the control, nonsense oligodeoxynucleotide (NS-ODN). The ODNs with the final concentration of 300 nmol/L was delivered into SMMC-7721,BEL-7402 cells by Oligofectamine TM Reagent. We evaluated heparanase gene expression using RT-PCR and detected heparanase protein expression using Western blot assay after transfection. Cell invasiveness was measured by Matrigel invasion assay. Results The result showed that heparanase gene expression, protein expression and invasiveness in AS-ODN group decreased significantly as compared with control groups( P

ABSTRACT

Objective In embryology, the pancreas is formed by fusion of the ventral pancreas(VP) and the dorsal pancreas(DP) during the seventh week of gestation. The aim of this study was to clarify whether there were differences in the clinicopathological characteristics of the carcinoma of pancreatic head(PhCa) arising from the VP and DP. MethodsResected specimens from 43 cases with PhCa were studied histologically and immunohistochemically. The VP and DP were distinguished by islet shape and amount of cells producing pancreatic polypeptide(PP) in normal pancreatic parenchyma adjacent to the main tumor. ResultsThere were 20 cases of PhCa from VP(VP-group) and 23 cases of DP (DP-group) in this study. The prognosis of the 20 patients in VP-group was significantly better than that of the 23 in DP-group ( P
